Quick reference for moderating majordomo list from pine:

When someone sends a message to a moderated list the owner of the list (often owner and moderator are the same) will receive a message as follows:

When you reply to the message in pine you use the forward command (hit the ‘f’ key) pine will then show the message similar to below:

At this point you want to address the message to the mailing list itself. You do not need to change the subject. The very first line of the message should be the approved line (bolded in the example below) then you must edit the message up to the FIRST "Received: from…" line. The example below shows what the message should look like before you send it:

    To : mailing-list@sfsu.edu

    Cc :

    Attchmnt:

Subject : BOUNCE mailing-list@sfsu.edu: Approval required: (fwd)

    ----- Message Text -----
    approved: password

If you as owner/moderator wish to send a message directly to the mailing list from yourself, simply make the first line of the message the "approved: password" and then place one line space between the password line and the first line of the message.
