Spam Filtering
In our continuing efforts to handle spam, DoIT is now using the Ironport® Systems C30 anti-spam appliances to filter incoming mail to the sfsu.edu server for spam.
The suspected spam tagging is the same. Spam that is suspect will still be delivered, but will be identified with the same "{Spam?}" tag inserted at the beginning of the subject line as the previous anti-spam software; however, the number of suspect spam messages you receive should be fewer.
Forward any messages that are spam and are not tagged as spam, to abuse@sfsu.edu with full message headers displayed. Any messages that are inadvertently tagged as spam that shouldn't be, should also be forwarded to abuse@sfsu.edu with full message headers displayed. DoIT will identify these as legitimate and they will not be marked as spam in the future.
DoIT continues to monitor the progress of handling spam, is seeking new and innovative methods for spam control and is interested in your input on current, new or potential systems. If you have any questions, please contact the Help Desk, helpdesk@sfsu.edu.
