Foundations
DoIT's mission
Through a culture of efficiency, continuous improvement and reliability, the Division of Information Technology strives to provide technology leadership and deliver campus-wide, customer-focused information technology services and solutions to support the mission, effective operation and academic excellence of the University.
Services
To achieve this mission, DoIT provides the following services:
- Self-service applications: Provide students, facutly, staff and members of the campus community access to manage personal information through role-based, single sign-on services, providing anytime, anyplace access.
- Communication and collaboration: Deploy, develop and promote tools to support communication, collaboration, information sharing and project management.
- Support: Provide customer-oriented support to members of the SF State community to make the best use of technology on and off-campus through teamwork, universal access principles, and a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
- Enterprise systems: Develop, support, manage and protect enterprise information assets and systems to meet campus enterprise data needs, and advance informed decision-making and continuous improvement throughout the University.
Foundations
The following foundations are required to allow DoIT to provide services to the University community:
- Security and business continuity: Develop and oversee an overarching campus IT security architecture. Manage risks to University IT resources through disaster preparedness and business continuity planning.
- Policy, procedures and governance: Lead and coordinate campus technology policy and procedures. Provide guidance on best practices in technology. Work collaboratively with technology governance groups to align technology with the goals and needs of the University.
- Infrastructure and connectivity: Provide high-quality, environmentally sustainable technology architecture and infrastructure to ensure broad access to academic and administrative systems and resources.
- Administration: Recruit, develop and retain highly-qualified personnel to uphold high service goals. Build strong partnerships and alliances with the SF State community, the California State University, other higher education institutions, vendors and others.
