Phishing Attempts

SF State is currently undergoing a spear phishing attempt targeted at Exchange email users and claiming to be a "User Quarantine Exercise Notification" ( from SF-IT-Service@sfsu.edu from a Gmail account.)

The message asks for your account information and password which is something DoIT never asks for. The message and all replies to the email have been blocked at this time. However, you should be on alert for future forgeries and not respond to messages like this.

illegal file-sharing = copyright violation = fines up to $250,000

Unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material, including peer-to-peer file sharing, may subject a student to civil and criminal liabilities including imprisonment of up to 5 years and fines of up to $250,000 per offense.
