6 Steps to Becoming a Co-op Employer
1. Assess your staffing needs; which areas of your operation need the assistance of a Co-op student and in what ways?

2. Develop Co-op job/internship description/s.

3. Determine fair and appropriate compensation for the position.

4. Determine the number of positions you will need and e-mail, or fax, your posting to the SFSU Cooperative Education Office.

5. After selecting a candidate, prepare an offer letter on company letterhead, with dates of employment and compensation rate; signed by Supervisor, or Human Resources Officer.

6. Designate someone to supervise, mentor, and evaluate Co-op Student.
