CoB STUDENT POLICIES
All students must be added to their courses by the Add/Drop Deadline printed in the class schedule and the online calendar, typically at the end of the 4th week. The CoB will not allow any late adds after this deadline has passed.
A student may appeal their grade if they feel it was not earned. If the instructor does not agree with the student to a grade change then an appeal may be pursued. Make an appointment with the Associate Dean in BUS 321 for further information on the grade appeal process.

It is required for all business students new to SFSU to attend a New Student Orientation. This is one of the activities dedicated to advising students about general education requirements, major programs, course scheduling, and numerous aspects of the business program. It is the goal of orientation to provide the new student with information to enable them to be successful in obtaining their business degree.

Withdrawal

1st week through 4th week of instruction: Add/Drop Period, using Touch-Tone Permit Number or Late Permit Number. Course will not show on permanent transcript record, future class lists, or grade report.

5th through 12th week of instruction: Withdrawal from a course may be permissible, in which case the student's name will appear on the grade report with a "W" and the student's permanent record will show a "W". Withdrawal is approved if the instructor has approved the request and the student does not have a previous "W" on their SFSU transcript. Signatures are required from the instructor and a CoB SSC staff member.

Last 3 weeks of semester: Withdrawals are not permitted, except in cases of verified accident or serious illness where circumstances are beyond the control of the student, and where the assignment of an incomplete grade is not practical. Normally, only withdrawals from the University are approved, since qualifying circumstances are not course-specific. Signatures are required from the instructor, the appropriate Dept. Chair, and the Assoc. Dean.

The CoB allows only one withdrawal per Business class. If you are asking for a second withdrawal and you feel that your situation is "serious and compelling", you will need to speak to the Associate Dean.
Undergraduate students will be placed on probation when their cumulative GPA in all college work or in all work at SFSU falls below 2.0 (C). They will remain on probation, seeing an advisor each semester, until their GPA reaches 2.0. To remain in good standing a student working toward a baccalaureate degree must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
Academic Disqualification from SFSU and the CoB
Undergraduate students are disqualified from SFSU and the CoB if the minimum required GPA of 2.0 is NOT achieved in the semesters following placement on academic probation. Disqualified students are no longer matriculated at SFSU and cannot enroll in classes, receive financial aid, etc. However, disqualified students can continue their education using the following options:

1) Students may after at least two semesters have elapsed, apply for readmission to the university, provided they have removed their academic deficiencies and increased their GPA to at least a 2.0. The work taken to elimnate deficiencymust be taken through the College of Extended Learning or Open University.

2) At the discretion of the Advising Center, students may seek reinstatement to SFSU on condition that they change their major to "Undeclared" or to a field other than Business Administration. Students choosing this option are prohibited from enrolling in CoB courses.
