Welcome to apply for the Confucius Institute Scholarship

To support Chinese language teaching and learning, cultivate qualified Chinese language teachers and train excellent Chinese-language students, Confucius Institute Headquarters/ Hanban launches the 2016 “Confucius Institute Scholarship” program.

The Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University (CI at SF State), as a center for Chinese education in Northern California, would like to share the related information and offer assistance to all qualified applicants in applying for the Scholarship.

2016 Scholarship Categories:

  1. Scholarship for Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) Students.
  2. Scholarship for one-Academic-Year Study + MTCSOL Students
  3. Scholarship for Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (BTCSOL) Students
  4. Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Study Students
  5. Scholarship for One-Semester Study Students (either on Sept. 1st, 2016 or March 1st, 2017)
  6. Scholarship for Four-Week Study Students (Summer Program at Beijing Normal University)

CI at SF State would strongly recommend the Four-Week Chinese Study program at our partner institution – Beijing Normal University (BNU). The Mandarin courses are available from June 25th through July 24th, 2016 and at BNU.

Please note: A Photocopy of HSK and HSKK score reports must be provided when you apply. If you have not taken HSK and HSKK tests, please refer to our website at Our faculty will be able to make a brief introduction to HSK online test in your classes if needed.
The next HSK/HSKK online test will be offered on March 20, 2016 at SF State.
