Program Requirements

Minor

Currently, the minor requires successful completion of the sequenced courses; two accounting courses and two electives that must be pre-approved by an entrepreneurship program advisor. The Center is developing two other ‘tracks’ for minors to take: one for restaurants/nightclubs and one for general information about entrepreneurship and its role in society. However, these will not be available until 2008-2009.

Please note that it will take two academic years to complete the sequence listed below so planning and advising are absolutely essential to graduating on time. Also note that the introductory course is offered only in the Fall semester.

The sequence:

MGMT 430, Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Part I (fall)

MGMT 431, Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Part II (spring)

MGMT 432, The Entrepreneurial Approach to Acquiring Resources (fall)

MGMT 433, Building the Venture (spring)

Also required:

ACCT 300 Accounting and Finance Reporting

ACCT 451 Accounting, Finance and Tax for the Smaller Business

ACCT 451 is not always offered in an academic year but consult with your entrepreneurship program advisor to construct a suitable alternative.

Electives

It is strongly recommended that you enroll in MGMT437, Internship in Entrepreneurship as one of your electives and that you take it concurrently with MGMT 433.

If you do take MGMT 437, your second elective can be selected from any area related to your business idea and/or career goals but it must be pre-approved by an entrepreneurship program advisor.

If you do not take MGMT 437, both your electives can be selected from any area related to your business idea and/or career goals but they must be pre-approved by an entrepreneurship program advisor.
