The Prevention Education Programs' CEASE
The CEASE (Creating Empowerment through Alcohol and Substance Abuse Education) Program is a campus-wide alcohol and other drug education program created to educate students about alcohol and other drugs, to provide support services for all students grappling with substance related problems through assessment, counseling and referrals. The CEASE Program sponsors workshops and seminars, participates in on-campus information fairs, and additionally, provides training to volunteers who work with other students, faculty, and staff to assist in creating a campus environment that reinforces healthy lifestyles. Services are confidential.
CORE Survey
Please participate in the SF State Drug and Alcohol Survey called the CORE Survey. It helps our campus know current trends and how CEASE Program could be most helpful to students. To know more about why we are conducting this survey please read this letter. In addition to helping the campus community, those who participate will be entered in a raffle to win:

To Participate in the SF State Alcohol and Drug Survey
1) Click on this WEB site https://coresurvey.com and enter
2) Enter the 5-digit code 18633 to identify you as an SFSU student After you complete the survey, exit the WEB site.
3) If you wish to enter a drawing for one of the prizes, follow the instructions after you complete the survey. You may only enter once.
Drawings will be done every three days for 2 weeks, starting 3 days after the surveys have been sent out. Emails will be deleted at the end of the drawings not be traceable to the survey. The survey is anonymous and entirely voluntary. No one will know whether you choose to participate and the Web-based response assures your complete anonymity. You must be 18 years or older to take part in the survey. Some of the questions are quite personal. If they make you uncomfortable, you do not need to answer them. You may choose to answer only the questions you feel comfortable answering. The survey will take an average of 20 - 30 minutes to complete. If you do participate, completion and return of the survey indicates your consent to the above conditions.
Interested in learning more about alcohol and other drugs
There are a number of ways to learn about the impact of alcohol and other drugs in your life and to gain more of an understanding of the role they play. We offer anonymous assessments where you can have a personal report created for you within twenty minutes by online. You can also make an appointment to see a CEASE counselor for a two session assessment by calling the Counseling and Psychological Services at (415) 338-2208 and asking for a CEASE appointment.
Wellness as Prevention
There are a number of reasons substance use may turn into abusive or dependent use. We believe that wellness is the key to preventing problems from developing. For more information on preventing alcohol and drug related problems visit Wellness Tips.
