Conceptual Information Arts (CIA) Program

What is Conceptual/Information Arts?   Conceptual/Information Arts (CIA) is the experimental program within the Art Department at San Francisco State University dedicated to preparing artists and media experimentors to work at the cutting edge of technology.   Students learn contemporary digital production skills but they do so in the context of questioning the cultural context of technology and in experimenting with newly emerging technologies..

Students explore a variety of forms including: web design, kinetics &  robotics, hypertext and non-linear narrative, digital video, digital sound, interactive events, installation, experimental sound , "deep pranks" and public interventions, art activated by touch, motion, and other new research sensors,  art that explores the edges of scientific inquiry and technological innovation
