CAREER EVENT CODE OF CONDUCT

Appropriate behavior during a Career Event includes but is not limited to:

• Wearing professional or business casual attire.

• Bringing copies of your resume for distribution.

• Preparing a short oral introduction of your background and interests.

• Preparing questions to ask the sponsors.

• Collecting business cards and sending a follow-up letter to organizations.

• Conducting oneself in a professional and business-like manner.

• Lining up and waiting your turn when the sponsoring organization is busy.

• Limiting the number of questions and your time with the sponsoring organizations. Follow up with the organization later for more detailed information.

• Speaking in a respectful conversational level with sponsoring organizations attending the event.

• Turning off cell phone or placing it on Silent Mode.

Inappropriate behavior during a Career Event includes but is not limited to:

• Smoking, drinking or eating in the Gym.

• Shouting or chanting (interferes with normal conversation levels between guests and sponsors).

• Stomping of feet or other noise (interferes with normal conversation levels between participants).

• Blocking aisles (limits free access to organizations by other guests, restricts free access by guests with disabilities, and potentially creates a safety hazard during an emergency).

• Using any form of amplified sound including bullhorns and megaphones or devices that create sound including but not limited to bells, drums, horns, or whistles during the event (interferes with normal conversation levels between guests and sponsors).
