2005 Call for Nominations
Richard E. Cone Award
The 2005 California Campus Compact Richard E. Cone Award for Excellence & Leadership in Cultivating Community Partnerships in Higher Education is awarded to an individual who has made significant contributions to the development of partnerships between institutions of higher education and communities surrounding the campus.
To be eligible for the award, the recipient must be employed at a California Campus Compact member institution. The award recipient will be notified by the first week of February 2005 and will receive the award at the Western Region Campus Compact Consortiums 8 Annual Continuums of Service Conference in Portland, OR. Transportation expenses to the conference will be provided by California Campus Compact.
Selection Criteria:
Potential candidates must be
nominated by a colleague and be employees of California Campus
Compact member institutions. (Visit www.sfsu.edu/~cacc to check
on institutional membership status.) These candidates should also
possess the following:
- Experience in coordinating campus-community partnership programs: this may include creating or cultivating various community service projects, and/or creating or maintaining multiple service learning opportunities for students.
- Evidence of institutional impact: this may include demonstrated leadership such as promoting service learning on ones campus and within higher education.
- Evidence of community impact: this may include articles (newspaper, magazine or journal), community responses (letters of appreciation), media events, and student endorsements and/or evaluations.
- Experience in the field of service
learning and/or campus-community partnerships.
Nomination Submission Requirements
(Please submit originals and 6 sets of copies of the following):
- A letter of nomination from
a colleague (not to exceed three pages).
- A resume or curriculum vitae
of the nominee (not to exceed ten pages).
- A letter of support from a community
partner endorsing the candidates efforts to coordinate campus-community
partnerships using community service or service learning (not
to exceed three pages).
- Accompanying materials: Up to 10 pages (front and back) of supplementary materials may be submitted along with the nomination, including letters, testimonials, news clippings, annual reports, summary of program impact (qualitative or quantitative data)pamphlets, journal articles, etc. Anything over 10 pages will not be submitted to the reviewers. Do not submit audio or videotapes, display materials, films, scrapbooks, as they will not be considered. Accompanying materials must be no larger than 8.5 by 11. All submitted materials become the property of California Campus Compact and will not be returned.
