Software Installation Requirements for All CoB Labs

  • All software installation requests must be made 4 weeks prior to the beginning of the semester.

  • The faculty member must provide the software and licensing. We will not install any software without
    the proper licensing, no exceptions. The faculty member requesting the software is responsible for testing the software.  

  • All faculty are advised to purchase software that has a network version whenever possible.
    Faculty are advised to obtain the newest and updated version if possible. Updating a previous version
    of an existing software is treated the same as a new software installation request.

 

Notes to Faculty Regarding Software Issues

Requests for installation of new software will be evaluated in terms of security and performance. If the new software causes severe degradation of performance other solutions will be explored. If the new software would create security issues, these issues must be resolved or other solutions must be explored.

If the software conflicts with any existing software on the network and no solution can be found, the faculty who requested the conflicting software will be notified. 

Two weeks lead time must be allowed to determine a work around solution for any software issues.

Faculty members requesting installation of server software should consult with the Business Computer Lab staff and must explore the option of the students using software on USB memory sticks.
