Refund Guidelines

 

Spring 2012

Unit Load Change for Residents: Partial Refund of Professional Program Fee and MBA/MSBA Program Fee

 

Deadline: January 23, 2012 - February 3, 2012 (On the First Day of the semester through the Published Drop Deadline Date)

 

Eligibility: A MBA/MSBA students who drops units on or before February 3, 2012, shall be entitled to a pro-rata refund of applicable tuition less a non-refundable administrative fee of $20.00. The pro-rata refund is determined on the basis of the drop date that results in a lower tuition charge and the length of the semester. The length of the semester is calculated from the first day of the semester through final exams and excludes any breaks of five (5) days or more.

 

For Spring 2012 semester, the total number of days from the first day of instruction (January 23, 2012) through the last day of final exams (May 18, 2012) is 111. The calculation excludes any breaks of five (5) days or more.

 

Calculation: Students will receive a pro-rata refund less a non-refundable administrative fee of $20.00. Refund checks are processed and forwarded to the student's home address on file within two - three weeks from the published drop date of February 3, 2012. A refund request form is not required unless students want to expedite the refund check processing which is normally ten business days from the date the Bursar's Office staff receives and stamps the refund form.

For Example: A resident graduate MBA or MSBA Student enrolls for 9 units, paying the $3,369 Tuition Fee, $1,200 MBA/MSBA Program Fee, $2,286 Professional Program Fee ($254 x 9 units), and $402 local fees (total tuition and registration fees paid: $7,257). The student drops a 3 unit MBA/MSBA course ($254 x 3 units = $762) 5 days into the 111 day semester. Student was enrolled for 4.5% of the 3-unit MBA/MSBA course and receives a refund of 95.5% of the Professional Program Fee for the 3 units and a partial refund of $500 for the MBA/MSBA Program fee for dropping below 6.1 units for a total refund of $1,227.71 (Professional Program Fee $727.71 + MBA/MSBA Program Fee $500) less $20 administrative fee.

 

Note: Students will not be eligible for Professional Program Fee or MBA/MSBA Program Fee refund for unit load change that results in lower Professional Program Fee and MBA/MSBA Program Fee charge after the Published Drop Deadline Date of February 3, 2012 unless a total withdrawal or cancellation of all classes takes place by April 3, 2012.
