GRE 441 : Greek Epic II

Prerequisites: Upper division standing or consent of instructor; reading knowledge of ancient Greek.
Description: Translation and analysis of archaic epic, with a focus on Homer's Odyssey and Hesiod's Theogony. Discussion of formal elements and social and performative context. Paired with GRE 741. Students who have completed GRE 441 may not take GRE 741 for credit.
