ENG 790 : Tragedy in the Southern Novel

Prerequisites: Pre- or co-requisite: ENG 741 or consent of instructor.
Description: 20th century Southern fiction speaks of a society which is in radical transformation from a traditionalist, agrarian culture to a modern, secular one. Such a transformation is one of the sources of the tragic imagination from Faulkner to Cormac McCarthy.
