ENG 790 : Portraits of Women in 19th and 20th Century American Literature

Prerequisites: Pre- or co-requisite: ENG 741 or consent of instructor.
Description: The depiction of women characters of 19th and 20th century American fiction, who, variously trapped in their lives, seek selfhood, sexual fulfillment, liberation from androcentrism and provincialism to pursue careers as singers, writers, and "artists of life."
