SOC 500 : Money, Image, Culture: Social Identity in Mass Market Capitalism

Prerequisites: Completion of GE Segment I requirements, including ENG 214 or equivalent; upper division standing; SOC 300, SOC 370, SOC 371, and SOC 392.
Description: Examination of why consumer culture seems to be so meaningful for us; examination of monetary culture, market images, and consumption to appreciate how contemporary capitalism sells products. Focus on understanding how living in such an environment affects us and how we form our identities.
