Description: The origin of ore deposits emphasizing the mineralogic, petrologic, and plate tectonic environments of major deposits from around the world; chemical and physical controls on ore transport and deposition; techniques of mineral exploration and mining. Classwork, 3 units; laboratory and fieldwork, 1 unit. (Paired with GEOL 785. Students who have completed GEOL 785 may not take GEOL 485 for credit.)
