AIS 520 : Before the Wilderness: American Indian Ecology

Prerequisites: Upper division standing or consent of instructor.
Description: Examines the environmental thought, ecological worldviews, and resource management practices of North American native peoples; reviews how European and American colonists justified the expropriation of native lands, the different perceptions of “land” and its connections to major ecological and cultural change.
