PHYS 440 : Computational Physics

Prerequisites: PHYS 320, PHYS 430 or 460, CSC 309 or CSC 210 (or equivalent by consent of instructor).
Description: Analysis and simulation of physical systems by computer. Differential equations, chaos theory, spin systems, Monte Carlo method, neural networks, and theory of computation. Paired with PHYS 740. Students who have completed PHYS 440 may not take PHYS 740 for credit. Classwork, 3 units; laboratory, 1 unit.
