SPAN 543 : Romantic and Modernist Spanish American Poetry

Prerequisites: SPAN 500 or equivalent.
Description: Chronological study of 19th century poets and origins, sources, influences, and fundamental characteristics of Romanticism and Modernism in Spanish American poetry. Works of romanticist Echeverria; and exiles of Pacific, Mexico, and Caribbean; and modernist Dario. [GE]
