S S 455 : Sex, Power, and Politics

Prerequisites: upper division standing or consent of instructor.
Description: Examines how the state and social institutions define gender roles, regulate sexual practices, and police sex as a means of social control. Issues include morality campaigns, AIDS/STD's, pedophilia, pornography, sodomy, abortion, etc. (Also offered as HMSX 455.)
