ART 501 : Rembrandt and His Contemporaries

Prerequisites: upper division standing.
Description: A study of 17th century painting in Holland, with major emphasis on Hals, Rembrandt, and Vermeer. The painting techniques developed by these artists and the relation of their subject matter to the political, social, and religious climate of the time.
