Lot 20 Seismic Repairs & Access Modifications

The project provides seismic upgrades and repairs to the parking structure in order to meet current CSU seismic standards based on lessons learned from recent seismic events. The parking garage is a reinforced concrete structure with five levels, located in the northwest section of campus. The project also installs a new elevator at the northwest corner of the garage and pedestrian pathways across the top level between the existing and new elevators and at ground level between the new elevator and the University Police Department, thereby providing a continuous pedestrian route from the core of campus to North State Drive.

Following is a detailed scope of work:

• Install additional shear walls; four on each floor at grids D1/D2 and G1/G2 on each level.
• Install new footings at the basement level for the new shear walls.
• Install structural strapping consisting of steel rods designed for this purpose.
• Install one new elevator at the northwest corner of the parking structure.
• Develop a pedestrian pathway on the top deck of the parking structure to the new elevator.
• Provide a pedestrian path to connect the new elevator at ground level to the University Police Department site.
• Explore the option to widen the existing 6’-0” wide pedestrian bridge to a 12’-0” wide bridge.

The project team consists of the KPA Group, architects and engineers; Salas O’Brien, electrical engineers; C. Overaa, construction manager at Risk; Harris & Associates, construction manager.
