About Biomechatronics Research Laboratory (BRL)

Project CollageAt BRL, our research focuses on design and development of mechatronic and haptic interfaces with applications in robotic rehabilitation of motor-impaired patients, neuro-biomechanical models of human sensorimotor control system, human motor skill augmentation and novel tools for engineering education. For our research, we use the tools provided by and fall under the broad topics of mechatronics, robotics, haptics, system dynamics and control systems, system identification and statistical analysis (human subject experiment design and data analysis). Our research is inherently multidisciplinary and we use both analytical and experimental methods in our projects. See our research and publications pages to find out more about our current research.

About San Francisco State University (SFSU)

Golden GateFounded in 1899 as a teacher’s college, SFSU has grown over the past four decades into a nationally and internationally renowned comprehensive public university with eight colleges. Reflecting the composition of the greater San Francisco Bay Area in which it is situated, SFSU is widely recognized as one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse campuses in the United States. According to the Survey of Earned Doctorates 1997-2006, sponsored by several federal agencies including the National Science Foundation, SFSU is 4th among master’s level institutions in the number of its graduates who later receive research doctorates.
