Yoruba Potters: Mothers and Daughters

This video, recorded by Ron Du Bois at Dada Compound, Ilorin, in January 1988, documents traditional pottery making processes used by Yoruba craftswomen in Nigeria. Open field firing of over 1,000 vessels - including koko amu, the huge, perfectly symmetr ical water vessels which are made without using a potter’s wheel - is shown.
