Dancer, choreographer and director Jean Erdman narrates this three-part exploration of her career in dance. Her collaborations with John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Maya Deren and with her husband Joseph Campbell on the mythological dimension of her work are described. This first video contains six early works: The Transformations of Medusa (1942, 9 minutes); Hamadryad (1948, 4 min.), Ophelia (1946, 9 min.), Creature on a Journey (1943, 3 min.), Passage (1946, 3 min.), and Daughters of the Lonesome Isle (1945, 10 min.).
