This three-part series by Adrian Cowell chronicles thirty years in the histories of three indigenous peoples in the Amazon River basin of Brazil: the Panara, the Uru Eu Wau Wau and the Ava-Canoeiro. This first video looks at the Panara, descendants of th e Southern Kayapo, who were virtually wiped out in the 18th century. Their contact with Claudio Villas Boas and the Indian Protection Service in the 1960s, their flight to Xingu National Park in the 1970s and their recent efforts to return to their homel and are featured.
