Genetic Engineering: Double Edged Sword

Today’s Life Choices: Challenges for Our Times Series

Video Cassette - 29 minutes - Color - 1998

Ethical issues in genetic research are examined in this program; as reproductive technology allows researchers to isolate individual genetic characteristics, problems in how this information is used have surfaced. Genetic counseling can inform people of health risks, but can also be used to abort "imperfect" embryos. The use of genetic information by employers and medical insurance companies is also questioned.
