This highly stylized documentary, directed by Sergei Eisenstein and shot by Eudard Tisse in the early 1930s, was assembled by Grigory Alexandrov in 1979 from Eisenstein’s notes. A tapestry of life in Tehuantepac, Mexico, the film looks at a bullfigh t, the struggles of the peon and the traditional Day of the Dead. In Russian with English subtitles.
