Henry Ossian Flipper, the first black graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point, served with the buffalo soldiers in the American West, was convicted on trumped-up embezzlement charges and posthumously vindicated in 1976. This dramat ization, introduced by General Colin Powell, interweaves scenes from the one-man play "Held in Trust" by Bea Bragg and Richard Hobbs with archival photographs and historical narration by Ossie Davis.
