In this video Indian journalist Sakuntala Narasimhan describes the growth of a loan association for home workers in India. The women, called Annapurnas, run mini-restaurants to feed male migrant workers. This successful experiment in grassroots developme nt for women allows these small scale businesses to obtain bank loans at 4 percent interest, rather than the 150 percent charged by moneylenders.
