Filmmakers David and Judith MacDougall produced a documentary trilogy on the seminomadic Turkana herdsmen of northwestern Kenya during the mid-1970’s; this second program in the series explores how the Turkana live, and particularly how Turkana wome n view marriage. In a society allowing polygyny, reasons why a wife may want her husband to take another wife are presented, along with the resulting social advantages - and personal disadvantages.
