Contact: The Yanomami Indians of Brazil

Video Cassette - 28 minutes - Color - 1990

Geoffrey O’Connor ’s documentary graphically depicts the devastating impact of contact with the outside world on an isolated indigenous tribe, the Yanomami Indians of the Brazilian Amazon. Although the government is ostensibly trying to protec t the Indians, such efforts are routinely thwarted by mining interests who covet the Yanomami’s mineral-rich ancestral land.
