W. Francis McBeth demonstrates, in this video taped at the 1992 MENC National In-Service Conference, how a conductor’s control of band balance leads to good pitch, good ensemble sound and a polished band performance. The acoustical basis for balance and practical suggestions for attaining rich sound are explained, using examples played by the Arkansas Tech University Band.
