When Australian filmmaker Rod Freedman began searching for his family’s roots, he had no idea his Great-uncle Chatzkel Lemchen was one of the most honored linguists and lexicographers in Lithuania. This video recounts the life story of a lone man wh o survived the Czar, World War II and the Soviets, living to see a free Lithuania - and to still be in demand at the age of 93, a national treasure and a living bridge between Russian, Lithuanian, Jewish and Yiddish cultures.
