I am a Promise: The Children of Stanton Elementary School

Video Cassette - 1 hour, 30 minutes - Color - 1993

In the early 1990s ninety per cent of the students at M. Hall Stanton Elementary School in North Philadelphia came from single parent homes and live in poverty; all are African-American. Drug addiction and homelessness are also major problems in the scho ol’s inner city neighborhood. Filmmakers Alan and Susan Raymond spent a year at Stanton tracing how the school and its dedicated principal, Deanna Burney, have brought stability and hope into the children’s lives.
