This allegory by Mikhail Bugakov (1891-1940), written in 1925 and banned in the Soviet Union during the author’s lifetime, has claims to being the best satirical novella of the Soviet era. The plot involves a doctor, specialist in rejuvenation opera tions, who transplants organs from a recently dead criminal into a mongrel dog, with amazing results. This adaptation in Russian with no subtitles.
