In the 1920s Egyptian women were the first in the Arab world to take off their veils and receive free secular education. In the 1980s, however, a resurgence of fundamentalism had middle class women in Egypt wearing a new style of Islamic dress - and comi ng the mosque to study the Koran. In this video Egyptian women discuss these changes. Filmmakers Elizabeth Fernea and Marilyn Gaunt.
