This series introduces viewers to physical geology, the study of the geologic events that have shaped, and continue to change, or planet. The forces which create "Sedimentary Rocks" are explained in the first segment; then the range of "Metam orphic Rocks" are profiled. "Running Water: Erosion and Deposition" shows the ways water shapes the earth by focusing on the Mississippi River, while "Running Water: Landform Evolution" explains drainage patterns and river capture, in cluding the Atchafalaya River capturing the flow of the Mississippi.
