This series chronicles the lives of the nobles and servants who call Downton Abbey their home. In episode four Matthew and William are missing in France, while at the Abbey Mrs. Bird and Molesley run a soup kitchen for veterans. Jane takes Ethel’s p lace as maid in part five; Lady Mary also thwarts Vera Bates’ plan to enbroil the Crawleys in a public scandal. In part six the father of Edith’s baby dies in the war and Canadian soldier claiming to be Patrick Crawley comes to Downton as the A rmistice is announced. In episode seven Ethel confronts the parents of her baby’s father and newspaper tycoon Lord Carlisle tries to bribe Anna to spy on Lady Mary. Each episode approximately 53 minutes.
