As a petrochemical industry center, Sarnia, Ontario, once enjoyed the highest standard of living in Canada. In 2004, however, birth records for the Chippewa people living in Sarnia showed that female births outnumbered males two to one. Large numbers of miscarriages, reproductive anomalies and neurological problems among children have also been discovered. This program by Pamela Calvert looks into exposure to endocrine disruptors - chemicals which mimic natural hormones - and the toxic legacy the people of Sarnia must now live with.
