Bonobo apes are reputed to be genetically close relatives to humans but much more peaceful, using sexual activity to settle disputes. In 1998, just as a study was about to be made of the bonobo apes in the Congo a civil war broke out. This PBS program ac companies the researchers who, concerned that war and the bush meat industry may have destroyed the bonobos, return in 2003 to the bonobo’s forest home.
