This landmark television miniseries follows the saga of a black family from Kunta Kinte, a black man kidnapped from Africa in 1767, to his modern descendant in the United States - author Alex Haley. Kizzy’s son Chicken George is sent to England in p ayment for a gambling debt but returns a free man in this fifth program - just as the Civil War erupts. Episode directed by Gilbert Moses; teleplay by William Blinn, James Lee and M. Charles Cohen. Stars Ben Vereen, Lloyd Bridges, Georg Stanford Brown, S andy Duncan, Leslie Uggams, Olivia Cole. Following the Civil War Tom the blacksmith identifies night riders terrorizing the ex-slaves in the final episode of the series.
