Bill Moyers talks with renowned mythologist Joseph Campbell (1904-1987) in this series. Campbell talks about the role of sacrifice in myth and compares sacrificial acts between cultures in "Sacrifice and Bliss". He stresses the need for a " bliss station ", to escape everyday pressures. In "Love and the Goddess" Campbell discusses depictions of romantic love, beginning with the songs and poems of the 12th-century troubadours. He also addresses image of woman as goddess, virgi n or Mother Earth.
