Bill Moyers talks with renowned mythologist Joseph Campbell (1904-1987) in this series. In "The Hero’s Adventure", Campbell relates how, since ancient times, tales of heroic adventures have been an integral part of all world cultures. In  46;The Message of the Myth" Campbell compares the creation story in Genesis with creation stories from different cultures around the world. Each program approximately 56 minutes. In "The First Storytellers" Campbell recounts how the myths and rites of the early hunting societies were a way of putting the mind in accord with the body and the way of life with the way nature dictates. He discusses what happens when a society no longer embraces a powerful mythology. DVD includes excerpts from & #34; The Mythology of Star Wars " (14 minutes) with Moyers and George Lucas.
