In the 1960s psychologist Stanley Milgram stunned the world with a study on obedience showing that ordinary people, on orders from an authority figure, would deliver painful and potentially fatal electrical shocks to another person. Santa Clara Universit y psychologist Jerry Burger, with the approval of the American Psychological Association, conducted a modified version of that experiment to see if people will still obey orders that conflict with their conscience.
