Vicious criminals stalk the streets of Paris in this surrealist crime drama, a silent film serial shot by Louis Feuillade during World War I. Memorable for the performance of Musidora as Irma Vep - the original vamp. Episodes on this DVD: 1. The Severed Head (31 minutes) Reporter Phillipe Guèrande pursues violent criminals named the Vampires. 2. The Ring That Kills (13 min.) Phillipe is captured by the Vampires but escapes. 3. The Red Cypher (39 min.) Irma Vep, disguised as a maid, tries to poison Phillipe; the Vampires capture Phillipe’s mother, but she escapes. 4. The Spectre (30 min.) Irma Vep spots another criminal, the Spectre, disguised as a murdered banker. 5. Dead Man’s Escape (35 min.) After faking his death the Spectre escapes. Mazamette rescues Philippe from the Vampires and 6. Hypnotic Eyes (53 min.) Hypnotized by rival criminal Moreno, Irma murders the Grand Vampire. Color tinted film with English intertitles.
