In 1995 artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude choreographed the construction and simultaneous opening of 3,100 octagonal umbrellas - 1,340 blue ones in the Ibaraki valley of Japan and 1.760 yellow ones in southern California. Filmmakers Albert Maysles, Henry Cora and Grahame Weinbren recorded the project. A conversation between Christo, Jeanne-Claude and Albert Maysles follows, describing their lengthy collaboration and The Gates, a February 2005 exhibition of 7,500 16-feet high structures in Central Park in New York City.
